They lied to us about postpartum.

They lied to us about postpartum.

They sold us a fantasy:
A sleeping baby in a crib.
A clean house.
You just… bounce back.
Slip the baby into your life like a cute accessory.
Not the other way around.

But what happens when you can’t put the baby down?

When you’re nursing for hours,
leaking through every shirt,
and the sound of crying makes your skin crawl?

When you start to wonder:
What’s wrong with me?
Why is this so much harder than I thought it would be?
Why is it nothing like they said it would be?

No one prepared us for the realities of postpartum life.

We didn’t grow up watching women give birth, nurse, recover, and become mothers.
We didn’t witness the full arc of the transformation.

Instead, we’re isolated. Behind closed doors.
Trying to piece it together in real time, with no blueprint and no village.

Of course we think we’re doing it wrong.

But listen — if you’re struggling, it’s not you.

It’s the system.

No paid leave.
No universal childcare.
Just a six-week checkup and a patronizing reminder to “enjoy every minute.”

If you’re drowning, it’s not because you’re weak.
It’s because you were set up.

By capitalism.
By patriarchy.
By white supremacy and colonialism.

You deserve more than survival mode.

If this hits home, stick around.
There’s truth here. There are tools.
There’s solidarity.

Fuck norms.
Smash the system.
Mom as you are.
