Your PLacenta. Your Choice.
The complete guide to what you can do with your placenta after birth
— for parents who don’t want the hospital to keep their placenta
You probably haven’t thought much about your placenta.
That makes sense.
You’re preparing for a baby. Not an anatomy class. And let’s be honest, the placenta is often an afterthought. And most providers don’t even bring up.
The placenta works hard (quietly) for you and your baby throughout your entire pregnancy. It deserves more than the trash.
But once your baby is born, your placenta is taken away and treated as medical waste… unless you tell them otherwise.
Most parents don’t even know they have options.
your placenta isn’t trash.
It’s an organ you grew.
Your body built a temporary organ from scratch. And that organ:
sustained your baby
produced and managed you hormones throughout your pregnancy
filtered waste away from your baby and back to your body so you could dispose of it
adapted constantly as your baby grew
And it belongs to you. Even after you give birth.
Most parents don’t opt out of keeping their placenta. They’re just never invited into the conversation.
This guide exists to change that.
I created this free download because I’ve spent over a decade supporting families who just wanted a choice.
Not necessarily placenta pills.
Not necessarily rituals or keepsakes.
They want to know their options because they just don’t want the hospital to have it.
This guide walks you through your options so you can decide on purpose, not while you’re staring into your newborn baby’s eyes. Because let be honest, nothing else really matters in that moment.
In the guide, you’ll learn:
Who decides what happens to your placenta after birth if you don’t
What normally happens to your placenta after birth
Hospital policies and your legal rights
Your placenta options
What is placenta encapsulation and why people opt for placenta pills
And listen…
I don’t do scare tactics. And I’m definitely not interested in twisting your arm. (I’m menopausal with a late diagnosis of AuDHD, so I have zero energy for convincing anyone to do anything.)
I just want you to have this info. Because I’m on a mission to keep more placentas out of the trash.
(And also because I do believe that placenta pills can help you have a more empowered postpartum experience.)
You don’t have to want placenta pills.
I mean, even though I am The Placenta Girl, I’m not in the business of convincing anyone.
That said, if you read this guide and decide encapsulation feels right, that’s awesome! If you’re in Central or South Jersey, Philly, or Delaware, I’d love to do your placenta pills for you.
But if not, let’s not let your placenta end up in the trash. It deserves so much better than that.
Some decide they want to keep their placenta and think about it later.
Some decide they want nothing to do with it at all.
All of those outcomes are okay.
Information isn’t about pushing a choice.
It’s about making one intentionally.
Why this matters to me (honestly)
After a rough postpartum experience filled with anxiety, rage, and feeling completely alone, I encapsulated my own placenta after my next birth.
For me, the difference was huge:
better mood, less anxiety, less anger, more energy, and my body produced more milk.
But what mattered most wasn’t the pills.
It was the feeling that I was helping myself have a more balanced fourth trimester experience this time around.
This guide is for you if:
You’re pregnant and want to understand your options
You don’t love default hospital practices and prefer informed consent or informed refusal
You’re curious about placenta encapsulation but unsure
You want calm, grounded information instead of fear-based messaging
You believe your body deserves respect
You don’t like being told what to do
And if you want help beyond the guide…
If you finish reading and think:
“I still have questions.”
“I don’t want to make this decision alone.”
“I want someone in my corner postpartum.”
